The Budget Cycle
As Chair of the Toronto Cycling Committee (TCC,) I am requesting your support for proper funding of cycling initiatives as we prepare the 2006 capital budget.

City Council Meetings : September 20 & 25 to 28, 2006
Purchase of Green Lane Landfill - At a special meeting on September 20 dealing with Toronto's strategy for managing its garbage, Council approved a letter of intent to purchase the Green Lane Landfill in southwestern Ontario.

Green development standard - Council approved a set of principles and targets that are intended to promote environmentally sustainable site and building design.

New governance model for the City - Council approved a series of changes to the City's Council and committees, including the creation of an executive committee responsible for setting policy directions.

Bid to host World Expo - Council voted strongly in favour of Toronto mounting a bid to host a World Expo event in 2015. If the bid is successful, Expo 2015 will take place on 400 acres of transformed Port Lands, bringing to life the "Spirit of Ingenuity" theme.
